04Scope and limits
Identifying tax residence remains your obligation. Nestor organizes the collection.
Financial institutions obtain a tax residence self-certification from their account holders, when the account is opened and then whenever their situation changes (French General Tax Code, or CGI, article 1649 AC), for the automatic exchanges of information under the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and under the FATCA agreement with the United States.
Nestor collects, sends reminders for and organizes the answers. Your teams analyze them, classify the clients and file the returns with the tax authorities.

- Nestor does not check the consistency of the answers or the tax numbers: your teams validate each answer or send it back with a reason.
- Forms
- Nestor does not pre-fill official forms: you use your own form or one built in Nestor.
- Signature
- Simple electronic signature, with Yousign or DocuSign.

Do clients have to create an account?
No. They open their space with a link or a code received by email, or with their Google or Microsoft account.
Can we remind only those who have not answered?
Yes. Scheduled reminders stop automatically for clients who have answered.
Can our clients abroad answer in their own language?
The interface and the emails are available in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
Does Nestor send the information to the tax authorities?
No. Nestor collects the self-certifications; your teams file the returns with your own tools. The answers can be exported or retrieved through the API.
Can we use our own form?
Yes. Upload it to have it signed online, or rebuild its questions with Nestor's form fields.
